Taman Desa Idaman is a mixed development which that comes under the government’s Rumah Idaman Rakyat initiative. The development will see 26 acres of land in Kampung Santong, Terengganu being turned into a residential enclave that consists of terrace houses, semi-detached houses and shophouses. The development is estimated to be completed in 2019.
The residential area will see 229 units, differentiated into 4 types of houses available for purchase. Vanda is the single storey terrace unit, taking 70 units of the composition. The unit will have a built-up of 800 sf, and comes with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Cattleya is a two-storey terrace unit that has a built-up of 1,500 sf, with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as well. Cattleya will have 60 units.
Miltonia is the two-storey semi-detached unit, coming in 76 units with built-up of 1,700 sf, and 4 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. Ludicia has 23 units of two-storey shophouses, where the ground floor is a shop while the upper floor serves as accommodation for its tenants. The upper floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, and the units have a built-up of 2,800 sf. Under the Affordable Homes initiative, Vanda units will have a price of RM68,000, while prices for the other units have yet to be released.
There is not much facilities within the area, and Taman Desa Idaman is also located in a rather isolated, yet developing area in Kampung Santong. However, when the mixed development is completed, there is bound to be an abundance of amenities nearby. Traffic is of smooth flow, which means that tenants of Taman Desa Idaman will be able to travel to Paka town centre with ease, where they can find commercial hubs that consist of workshops, offices, and restaurants. Schools nearby are such as Sekolah Kebangsaan Santong, Sekolah Kebangsaan Paka, and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Paka.
Taman Desa Idaman has easiest access via the Jerangau-Jabor Highway, a state route that runs right outside of the development. Via the highway, tenants will be able to reach the Paka town centre, Ketengah Jaya and Kerteh. The highway also connects to the East Coast Expressway, an extension to the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway, which means tenants can travel around the Peninsula with ease.
