Balakong is a township located in Selangor neighbouring Kajang and Cheras. Coming with a very long history, this locality was originally a quaint little village that was surrounded by rubber plantations before the 1980s.

With development came modernisation, and this township is now the proud host of several international tiered schools, shopping malls and hospitals within its vicinity, anticipating the demand for modern and urban infrastructures which cater to both locals and expatriates alike.

With its location being comparatively far from the city centre, homes here are more affordable for the middle income group, whilst the lifestyle of residents in this town is estimated to improve upon completion of all the upcoming developments.

Consumer Price Index

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) line shows an increment in prices of essential goods on a yearly basis, while the Percentage Changes line shows the level of changes in price increments over the years. While the prices of essential goods have shown a variation in the Percentage Changes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the other hand indicates a reality of ever increasing prices in essential goods with increments between the years 2011 - 2015 at 102.7 in 2011, 105.1 in 2012, 107.3 in 2013, 111.0 in 2014, 113.8 in 2015.
