Shah Alam is known for its football games and being well spread out with residential “sections” as they are referred to here. It is a slightly sleepy city, with industrial presence dotted on the outskirts. Many tourists also come to visit the Blue Mosque which is somewhat an iconic landmark. You could say that this little city has much going on for it.

Originally known for its rubber and oil palm plantations, It was then granted its city status on 10th October 2000, and the then Menteri Besar set about to making it a Bandaraya Melayu or Malay City, showcasing the achievements of the Malays. It is the state capital of Selangor, located just next to the royal capital of Klang. A fun fact about the area is that Shah Alam was the first planned city in Malaysia after independence from Britain in 1957. Another fun fact is that Shah Alam has an abundance of roundabouts, which lead to the various sections in the area. Each section has roads referenced to a selected theme, eg Section 20s theme is “animals”.

The entire area of Shah Alam consists mainly of landed housing developments, with a sprinkle of high rises. Residential homes in Shah Alam are both freehold and leasehold.

For the sports enthusiast, Shah Alam has much to offer. The Shah Alam Stadium which is a regular host for major Malaysia football games, game nights usually see throngs of fans from all over Malaysia making their way here for the games. There is also an integrated sports complex known as Kompleks Sukan Shah Alam which houses the Darul Ehsan Aquatic Centre, a go kart track and also an Extreme Park.

Shah Alam is also home to industrial parks along its outskirts and several technological and vocational universities. Despite this, property prices in Shah Alam have always been on the affordable side, and many who seek middle-cost homes make their way to this city.

Shah Alam is well connected to other main cities in Klang Valley via a network of major highways. Public transport users are served by KTM Kommuter currently, but will have access to the Bandar Utama - Klang LRT line by 2024.

Shah Alam is served with many private clinics, four private hospitals, and one government hospital.

Shah Alam is perfect for families who want to make a life in the tranquility of the suburbs while being connected to the city.
