Taman Desa is an expansive and established area situated on the edge of Kuala Lumpur. It is recently dubbed as a hipster place due to the amount of cafes here serving selectively sourced coffee beans within an environment that fits the vibe.

The neighbourhood has gone through plenty of progress over the years, becoming a much safer place to live in these days. This is all thanks to the neighbourhood association in Taman Desa that worked hard to ensure safety measures were implemented, resulting in the Guarded Security Scheme. Soon after this movement, the amount of crimes in the guarded areas have dropped to almost non-existent.

Over here you can enjoy the best of both worlds; one where you can be near all the action in the city centre and the other where you can bask in the blissful quietness of your surroundings. The Taman Desa residential area is known for being more serene because commercial activity is concentrated within one location only. However, if you feel like going out for a good time, the buzzing city centre of Kuala Lumpur is just a few minutes away from home.

There is no need to travel far for necessities because the best amenities will be all around you. The numerous shopping options within reach are Mid Valley Megamall, Bangsar Village, Nexus Bangsar South, Bangsar Shopping Centre, and Suria KLCC. Moreover, from here it’s only an 11-minute ride to KLIA Express, making it extra convenient for workers who need to travel outstation.

Consumer Price Index

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) line shows an increment in prices of essential goods on a yearly basis, while the Percentage Changes line shows the level of changes in price increments over the years. For example, a dip in the CPI line may indicate a low level of price increment as compared to the previous year while a surge in CPI line shows a high level of price increment as compared to the previous year.

The above graph shows 1.363% of price changes in essential goods such as rice, meat and tobacco between the years 2011 and 2012, while increasing in difference to 1.633% in 2013. Prices of essential goods then increasing to 3.308% in the year 2014 while surging by 3.019% in 2015.

While the prices of essential goods have shown a variation in the Percentage Changes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) on the other hand indicates a reality of ever increasing prices in essential goods with increments between the years 2011 - 2015 at 102.7 in 2011, 104.1 in 2012, 105.8 in 2013, 109.3 in 2014, 112.6 in 2015.
