Mah Sing Group Berhad (Mah Sing) has yet again been crowned the “Company of the Year Award for Excellent Sustainability Reporting and CSR Initiatives” under the property development category at the recent Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards 2022.

The prestigious award was officiated by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Rural Development, Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Ramlan bin Harun, representing the Minister of Rural Development Malaysia, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Mahdzir bin Khalid at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

Mah Sing was conferred as one of the recipients of the prestigious award by a panel of high-calibre judges representing corporate and social bodies, for its continuous implementation of meaningful corporate responsibility initiatives that have a tangible and sustainable impact on the lives of children and local communities, as well as engaging in sustainability efforts in the pursuit of a better Malaysia.

Mah Sing’s Founder and Group Managing Director, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong Hoy Kum said, “It is such an honour that our CSR and sustainability efforts are recognised for three years in a row. This recognition is a testament to our efforts and dedication to assisting underserved communities, particularly children. This acknowledgement will motivate us to do more impactful activities for the communities to uplift their livelihood and eventually breakout from the poverty cycle. On the other hand, Mah Sing as a people-oriented developer, has always ensured to embed sustainability into our business strategies which are aligned with the UN SDGs.”

“Mah Sing strives to bring forward the most impactful and sustainable initiatives for the community while maintaining the quality of our responsible supply chain supported by high levels of ESG standards. Moving ahead, we will continue to focus on creating impact through CSR collaborations as well as green innovation in our property and manufacturing businesses. Lastly, on behalf of the company, I would like to extend my greatest appreciation to our employees and our CR partner, Mah Sing Foundation for sailing together with us to meet our commitments to society and the environment,” added Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong Hoy Kum.

Mah Sing has been a strong advocate for charitable causes involving local children and families since 2005 through its strategic corporate responsibility partner, Mah Sing Foundation which oversees most of its community initiatives that are in line with the Group’s vision and mission. In 2021, Mah Sing and Mah Sing Foundation contributed more than RM1.3million and assisted more than 27 schools and NGOs which impacted more than 49,000 individuals.

Mah Sing’s employees, through its volunteer platform’s proactive initiative, M’Power, raised RM54,000 worth of nitrile examination gloves and groceries for front liners from seven COVID-19 administering hospitals in Klang Valley as well. Mah Sing has been running several programmes to uplift the lives of the B40 communities of the Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR), in line with its three key pillars – education, health and wellbeing, and community development.

In terms of sustainability, Mah Sing’s efforts can be seen that environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors are prioritised by the company’s three divisions – property development, plastics and healthcare — in its decisions and actions.
