UEM Sunrise has unveiled their new strategy to become Malaysia’s top developer, in conjunction with their 50th anniversary. Their new tagline, “Find Happy Now,” is to be central in their development plans going forward.

In an internal townhall meeting end-Feb 2020, UEM Sunrise launched their new brand ideals of Caring, Honest, Involved, Enthusiastic and Fun-Loving; alternatively also known as CHIEF. All their staff of 1,100 personnels were appointed as “Chief Happiness Officers”.

Quoting the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UEM Sunrise Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib, “UEM Sunrise’s (UEMS) brand story is at heart, one of belief, optimism and resilience. As the pioneer developer of Mont’Kiara and Iskandar Puteri, we have shown the importance of a strong vision and strength in execution to create what stands today as transformative developments emulated and copied by many, a perfect example of how we create value through strong vision and mission.”

He further added, “Through trials and errors, and years of experience, we have learned that one of the keys to success in the property sector is to be close to your customers. We cannot think that we know what is best for our customers all the time. Owning a house involves a lot of money and most of the time, it involves a person’s life savings.

“We must be sensitive to this fact and ensure there is capital appreciation in the products we sell by keeping ahead of trends and generational shifts. When this happens, then there will be brand loyalty and more opportunities will come our way. Furthermore, with an increasing middle-class base in the country, the level of sophistication has grown too, and Malaysians are now more educated and well-travelled both physically and virtually through technology.”

UEM Sunrise showed strong financial performance in the final quarter of 2019, with a total revenue of RM2.909 million as compared to RM2.044 million in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The main driver of the Group’s revenue came from property development, at 81%. Their property financial performance came from the completion and settlement of Aurora Melbourne Central and Conservatory in Melbourne, Australia, both of which contributed 69% to the total revenue.

On the local front, the ongoing construction of Residensi Solaris Parq, Residensi Astrea, and Kiara Kasih in the central region contributed 16% to the total revenue while 14% came from their southern region projects of Serimbun, Aspira LakeHomes and Denai Nusantara in Iskandar Puteri.

UEM Sunrise will focus on key growth areas in 2020 – specifically in Gerbang Nusajaya, Aspira, Puteri Harbour, and Kiara Bay, which they aim to turn the said areas into urban integrated liveable ecosystem developments.

The developer will be launching a total of RM2 billion GDV worth of properties in 2020, focusing on mid-range landed properties in the southern region, and adding new phases to Serene Heights Bangi in Central. Among their brand new launches will also be Residensi Allevia in Mont’Kiara, Residensi Equine 9 in Seri Kembangan, and Solaris Parq’s first office block.
