With the aim to make homeownership affordable for Malaysians, Lagenda Properties Berhad, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Blossom Eastland Sdn Bhd, has entered into a development joint venture with Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Berhad (“KHSB”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Selangor State Government, to develop a 191 acres plot of development land located in Bernam Jaya, Selangor.

Lagenda as the developer and KHSB as the landowner aims to develop the land into an affordable township with over 2,000 units of affordable landed homes priced at below RM250,000. The development is located about 75 kilometres away from the Kuala Lumpur city centre and is easily accessible via the North-South Expressway.

Acknowledging the urgent need for more affordable homes within Selangor given its high population, Lagenda and KHSB intend to dismantle the perception that landed homes within Selangor are out of reach for the public by providing landed homes that are not only affordable, but also a part of a sustainable and well-planned township.

This development also aims to emphasise a wholesome quality of life with multiple facilities and tranquil green spaces to be incorporated into the development plan to facilitate a communal and holistic living experience. The township is expected to significantly boost the socio-economic growth of the Selangor northern corridor via the development’s affordable and sustainable plan.

After winning a competitive selection process carried out by KHSB, the Bernam Jaya development will be Lagenda’s first foray into Selangor and will mark the Group’s presence in other states within Malaysia after Perak, Kedah, Johor, and Pahang. Lagenda remains committed to launching at least one new township per year and is aggressively expanding its horizons, soon after launching over 2500 units of affordable homes in Kedah in addition to the over 16,000 units of affordable homes launched in Perak thus far. Owing to Lagenda’s pricing strategy and lifestyle focus - the development will directly support the Government’s target of building 500,000 affordable homes as outlined in the 12th Malaysia Plan.

“As we roll out more affordable townships nationwide, we believe this joint venture is a crucial step towards cementing our reputation as being at the forefront of affordable housing. We genuinely care about making a difference, changing lives for the better and enabling Malaysians to realise their home ownership dreams. Our continued growth through establishing partnerships with like-minded organisations enables us to provide everyone with an opportunity to own their own home,” commented Dato’ Jimmy Doh, Managing Director of Lagenda Properties Berhad

“Lagenda was established to provide Malaysians with much-needed affordable homes. We aim to provide homes that everyone can afford to buy. One of the main reasons we chose Selangor to develop our township is its large population and the lack of affordable landed homes. We believe that once people have the security of owning their home, it enables them to alleviate home ownership concerns and plan their future with more confidence and optimism.

“Sustainability has always been at the forefront of our developments. Our townships are planned with the social, economic, and environmental impact at the forefront of decision-making. In addition, our affordable landed homes are complemented with recreational facilities and green spaces – creating an environmentally friendly and family-focussed township,” he further added.

The Bernam Jaya township is targeted to be launched by the 4th Quarter of 2023.
