Jalan Sungai Nyior is a wide major road located in Butterworth, Penang. While the road is not considered long by any means – measuring less than 1km – it links two important routes in Butterworth, stretching from the intersection of Jalan New Ferry and Jalan Chain Ferry (which form the trunk route of Butterworth) all the way to Jalan Siram, Jalan Heng Choon and Lebuhraya Butterwoth-Kulim, also known as the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway (BKE). The flat land surrounding Jalan Sungai Nyior has been developed not just with commercial properties, but residential properties like freehold terrace and semi-detached houses. Those living or operating their businesses in Jalan Sungai Nyior will also appreciate its proximity to the Raja Uda commercial area and Sunway Carnival Mall in the neighbouring town of Seberang Jaya. In the latter, one can also find various public and governmental institutions (such as the Royal Malaysian Customs Department and the Social Security Organisation), AEON Big Prai and Hospital Seberang Jaya – one of the main hospitals in Penang. There are two schools situated off Jalan Sungai Nyior – SK Convent Butterworth and SK Sungai Nyior. Motorists traveling along this road will also notice the abundance of factories and auto services along each side of the road – no surprise considering its strategic position. In fact, the road lies less than 2km from the jetty and the bus and train terminal of Butterworth. It is also approximately 10km from the Penang Bridge linking the mainland to the Penang Island, making it a convenient place to stay and work.
