Additionally, Eastern Group’s peripheral activities include provision of management services, investment holdings, project management, factory building construction, pre-fabrication, sales and installation of aluminium products, logistics and supply chain management. The group currently operates throughout Malaysia with property development contributing 80% of its gross revenue with the balance 20% from aluminium products.

Eastern Group had its humble beginnings in 1977 when Pembinaan Eastern Aluminium Sdn Bhd was established by the founder, Mr. Cheong Ah Fatt, with aluminium fabrication as its core business. The early days were challenging to say the least but with determination and a vision to succeed, Mr. Cheong built his team of highly experienced technical workforce in 1984 that were capable of meeting the aluminium industry’s requirements and saw the growth of the company as a whole by providing efficient project management solutions.

The transformation of the group into a design and build turnkey contractor in 1990 proved to be a turning point for the group. With vision and foresight, the group diversified its business and investments, strengthening the overall Eastern Group’s financial strength and property portfolio.

Following Mr. Cheong Ah Fatt’s vision, the group re-invested their profits into the business, a successful formula for higher performance and financial strength. In spite of the 1997 economic crisis, the group has been able to maintain their quality of service and in the face of adverse conditions, he managed to steer the company with his resilience, determination, perseverance, integrity, diligence and customer-oriented attitude.
